I'm an aspiring writer/director and enrolled on this course to learn the different aspects of media and what it takes to become what I strive to. I have little knowledge on what it takes to write a script or director a film of any sort and chose Media to learn how to do these things and more. My media career is my main focus, and so the two other subjects I have chosen are 'English Language and Literature' and 'IT', both of which I believe are necessary for my chosen career.
My favourite gaming franchise and all time favourite piece of media is 'The Elder Scrolls'. I spend an awful lot of time playing 'Elder Scrolls' games and reading lore. I hop into and out of 'Elder Scrolls' obsessions and know lots more than the average player about it's universe and the franchise as a whole. 'Doctor Who' is my favourite TV series. It reached it's fiftieth birthday last year, and has achieved different genres with the different actors who have played the main role as 'the Doctor', an eccentric alien being. I become obsessed with this show whenever it is currently on.
'Muse' is my favourite band. I love them for many reasons. They have many songs with meaningful lyrics; often on how corrupt society is and libertarianism. They have a achieved a very large range of genres, too, and have been congratulated on how unique and fresh they are. I can listen to their music at any time and feel great. My favourite film franchise is probably 'How to Train Your Dragon'. It strikes a chord in me and I can't help but love it. I'm a huge fan of dragons, too.
A huge thing about me is my love for freedom. I aim for freedom of all people and like to be free myself. All pieces of media listed above are largely based on the idea of freedom, probably my favourite thing about all of them. I think that freedom is an important factor in media, as it gives the person using the piece of media a sense of freedom and escapism, something most now cannot find in real life, sadly.
