Preliminary Task Evaluation

I apologise for not posting my evaluation at an earlier date. 'The Door Opens' has an evaluation of sorts, but isn't my actual evaluation typed up after the preliminary task. The evaluation may seem short, but that is because I have little to say on the topic. I'll post the final product again below for quick reference.

Viewing Famous Film Openings of Different Genres

Today in AS Media we looked at several film openings of different genres to see their codes and conventions. These included the likes of 'The Matrix', 'Love Actually', 'Goodfellas' and 'Once Upon a Time in the West'. We tried to watch the opening to 'Jaws', as it is apparently considered by many as the 'greatest of all time', but the video didn't work. But it's not like nobody's seen the opening yet, is it?

The Door Opens

Both metaphorically and physically. We start off AS Media with a small project where we must show our camera work and editing skills through the opening of a door. In groups of threes, we're supposed to film a short where a character opens a door and enters a room to have a short conversation with another character, before leaving. The dialogue can be however we want it to be and we can have any range of time filmed. Haven't finished yet, but so far it has been rather enjoyable and interesting to do.

After finishing the filming, somebody joined our group and we had four working on the editing, splitting into groups of twos. so there are two final products; one edited together by the new guy and I, and the other edited by the other two in our group; the actors.

Welcome to my Media Blog

I'm an aspiring writer/director and enrolled on this course to learn the different aspects of media and what it takes to become what I strive to. I have little knowledge on what it takes to write a script or director a film of any sort and chose Media to learn how to do these things and more. My media career is my main focus, and so the two other subjects I have chosen are 'English Language and Literature' and 'IT', both of which I believe are necessary for my chosen career.

My favourite gaming franchise and all time favourite piece of media is 'The Elder Scrolls'. I spend an awful lot of time playing 'Elder Scrolls' games and reading lore. I hop into and out of 'Elder Scrolls' obsessions and know lots more than the average player about it's universe and the franchise as a whole. 'Doctor Who' is my favourite TV series. It reached it's fiftieth birthday last year, and has achieved different genres with the different actors who have played the main role as 'the Doctor', an eccentric alien being. I become obsessed with this show whenever it is currently on.
